Dr. Murphy Backs Coherence’s $45M Push to Build Cancer Therapy That Learns
Coherence just raised a $45 million Series A, co-led by Founders Fund and The OpenAI Startup Fund. The company is building implants that read the electrical signals around a tumor, so doctors can see whether cancer is growing, shrinking, or coming back without waiting on the next scan or blood test. In early mouse studies of brain cancer, their model predicted tumor growth from neural activity, and it got more accurate with each additional day of data.
The longer-term plan is a single device that monitors the tumor and treats it with electrical stimulation, adjusting as it goes. Human testing has started. This round funds their first long-term glioblastoma trial, an application for FDA breakthrough device designation, and work on pancreatic cancer. Dr. Rory Murphy, a Neuralink Principal Investigator, is one of the angel investors in the round.
